Dr. Alexander Botvinnik

Alex lives in Jerusalem. He received his Ph.D .degree in neurobiology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and performed postdoctoral research in an immunology lab. His scientific interests are practical solutions for human therapeutics using synthetic biology. Currently working on developing a synthetic biology platform that would enable focused, rapid and simple screen for antiviral drugs with high therapeutic potential.

Dr. Inbal Gazy

Inbal earned her Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She did a short postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Tel Aviv after which she joined the National Institutes of Health as a postdoctoral fellow. Before joining the Nissim lab she moved to Durban, South Africa, and worked at the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform (KRISP).
She has been trained as a molecular geneticist and her research interests focus on different aspects of human genetic disorders.

Or received his bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His master’s degree focused on diagnostics and treatment of genetic diseases in purebred working dogs and was received from the Veterinary\Animal science faculty of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His Ph.D. research focuses on combining synthetic biology with cellular immunotherapies.

Hind Adem

Hind lives in Beit Safafa, a small quiet village right next to Jerusalem. She received her B.Med.Lab.Sc. degree from the Hadassah Academic College, Jerusalem. Her scientific interests are bioengineering and biomedical applications of synthetic biology. Currently working on developing advanced technologies for the construction of tumor-targeting synthetic gene circuits.

Keren received her B.Sc. in Mind/Brain Sciences, Bar-Ilan University. She is developing synthetic gene circuits for cancer immunotherapy.

Natella Buketov

Natella received her B.Med.Lab.Sc degree from the Hadassah Academic College, Jerusalem. In her M.Sc. studies, she works on "A high-throughput screening platform for Synthetic Promoters with Enhanced Cancer Specificity (SPECS)”. Her additional scientific interests are genetic engineering, the evolution of species, aging (mostly telomeres), and fertility.

Shlomi Edri

Shlomi received his B.Med.Lab.Sc. from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. His master project focuses on developing synthetic genetic circuits for cancer immunotherapy and synthetic gene circuits that enable rapid and efficient screening of anti SARS-CoV-2 drugs.

Tzlil Yair

Tzlil received her B.sc in Biomedical Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
Her master's project is about finding and optimizing synthetic promoters, with cancer specificity in melanoma cells.
Her additional role is to develop computational methodologies for the research group's various projects.

Yakov Krelin
Senior Scientist

Yakov was a senior scientist in our lab. He got his Ph.D. from the Ben-Gurion University. He has previous experience as a postdoc in the Weizmann Institute. Yakov also has experience as a senior researcher in the Sourasky Medical Center and the National Institute of Biotechnology in the Negev.
His interests are cancer biology, tumor immunology, the tumor microenvironment, tumor histopathology, cancer stem cells, cancer metabolism, and metabolic diseases.
